Au Coin Gourmand

What a surprise,, sooo well named. Clearly have a talented chef in the kitchen. Simple looking bar, but busy with a mixture of locals and some tourist from the ‘backpacker’ hotel next door. The food is excellent. It seems simple but whew it arrives it’s a delight for the eyes as well as the palate. Even the simple entrecôte steak, a massive entrecôte cooked to perfection, soft and luscious, fantastic! I can’t recommend it highly enough. Stay away from the tourist traps get into this place, the real deal…

The menu is reasonable priced. Wine of the region delicious. The fish dish was tasteless. The fish had not so much taste so the sauce and vegetables should add more flavor. The dessert of ice cream was not very good too. The ice has not much taste and the whipped cream was not fresh, but supermarket quality. My partner had a fantastic menu with very soft steak with a gorgonzola saus and french fries. The Creme brulee with pineapple was delicious. In our country it's not better, that's why we went to France. The French kitchen is famous so we hope you keep up the spirit.

In the warm confines of “Coin Gourmand” in Orléans, I discovered a plate where the ocean and the earth meet with astonishing elegance. The market fish, cod cooked with watchmaking precision, sat majestically on a bed of gorgonzola polenta, merging flavors with sweet boldness. The pecorino gnocchi, shards of terracotta to the bite, provided a robust texture which delicately contrasted with the tenderness of the fish. The mushrooms, humbly sliced, offered an earthly tribute, a reminder of the nourishing soil. The sauce, with its cream which envelopes the palate like morning mist over the Loire, linked each element in a harmonious dance. Finally, the lemon balls, like pearls of dew, burst with vivacity, bringing a zest of freshness and a luminous shine that punctuated each mouthful with a tangy note. This dish was not simply a meal, it was a gastronomic story, an ode to the sweetness of life. The conductor Stephane. This dish, both humble and complex, is a real bargain at this price.
